Depression is not sadness.
Sadness has a reason. Sadness has an end.
Depression is different.
It is a heaviness that has no obvious cause ad no predictable timeline. It does not care how blessed your life looks from the outside.
It does not care how strong you are. It does not care how deep your faith runs.
It just shows up. And it stays.
For me, depression came wrapped in physical illness. An irregular heart rate, shaking hands, panic attacks, one dark weekend alone in a house that felt like it was closing in on me.
I did not see it coming. Most people don't.
Here's what depression actually looks like:
- no energy to do the things you once loved
- withdrawal from the people you are closest to
- a heaviness that never fully lifts
- feeling joy has permanently left the building
- dark thoughts you are ashamed to share
- just going through the motions of living
Here is what depression is NOT:
- a sign of weak faith
- a character flaw
- something you can just pray away
- something to be ashamed of
- the end of the story
If you are in it right now - hear this:
- you are NOT weak. You are not alone or beyond help.
- getting help is not giving up. Getting help is fighting back.

Counseling has played an integral role n my journey to recovery. It gives me a place to understand what I've been through, how to work through underlying issues, develop healthier thought patterns and learn how to respond differently going forward. Counseling helps me become healtheir by bringing things int the light rather than carrying them alone. God often uses counselors as an avenue for healing and recovery. Proverbs 11:14 says 'In the multitude of counselors there is safety'

THE STATISTICS NOBODY TALKS ABOUT
Men and Depression
Depression does not discriminate.
But it does hide.
And in men — it hides better than almost anywhere else.
Here is what the numbers say:
- More than 6 million men in the United States suffer from depression every year
- Men are 4 times more likely to die by suicide than women
- Yet men are far less likely to seek help or even acknowledge they are struggling
- Only 1 in 3 people suffering from depression seek professional treatment
- Among men that number is significantly lower
Why do men suffer in silence?
Because we are taught to.
From childhood men are conditioned to believe that strength means not feeling. That vulnerability is weakness. That real men push through without asking for help.
So we push through.
Until we cannot anymore.
The warning signs in men often look different:
- Anger and irritability instead of sadness
- Increased alcohol or substance use
- Withdrawing from family and relationships
- Physical complaints — headaches, fatigue, chronic pain
- Throwing themselves into work to avoid feeling
- Risk taking behaviors
- Loss of interest in things they once loved
These do not look like depression.
So nobody calls it that.
And men suffer alone wondering why they feel the way they feel with no language for what is happening inside them.
I was one of those men.
Strong on the outside.
Falling apart on the inside.
Too proud to say I needed help.
Until the waves of depression got so heavy I could not pretend anymore.
Here is what I know now:
Asking for help is not weakness.
It is the strongest thing a man can do.
Because suffering in silence is not strength.
It is a slow surrender to something that does not have to win.
If you are a man reading this right now and something here sounds familiar — this platform exists for you.
You do not have to have the right words.
You do not have to have it figured out.
You just have to be willing to talk about it.
Let's talk about the WHAT.

The best coaches never stop learning. Every note. Every drill. Every athlete.
Great coaching isn’t about what you already know-it’s about staying curios enough to keep growing.
Our athletes deserve a coach that prepares like their success depends on it.
Because it does!

My Thought for Today is Job 8:11-13 ESV. “Can papyrus grow where there is no marsh? Can reeds flourish where there is no water? While yet in flower and not cut down, they wither before any other plant. Such are the paths of all who forget God; the hope of the godless shall perish.”Everything needs its source to survive and thrive. Cut a plant from its roots-it dies. Cut yourself from God and your hope(what you place confidence in)dies with it.For the athlete… raw talent with the right foundation withers fast. For someone that deals either hopelessness and depression. It lies and tells you there is no hope. But hope doesn’t come from your circumstances but your source. MAKE GOD YOUR SOURSE!The plant doesn’t manufacture its own water. Neither do we. Get connected…stay connected.

My Thought For Today is that Habits are the pathway to your identity. What you practice everyday eventually provides the proof of what you will identify as. Example: if you work out everyday you will begin to identify as an athlete. Take note of your habits!
*Before you read my story I want you to know something important.*
This platform was never created to debate. It was never created to tell you that my way
is the only way or that my truth is your truth.
This platform is for men. Let's Talk About The WHAT exists for one reason only - To share my story.
What I experienced. What I felt. What I walked through. What brought me back.
My hope is simple — that somewhere in my story you find a piece of your own. That something I share connects with
something you are carrying. That my journey gives you permission to believe that your journey is not over.
I am not a therapist. I am not a psychologist. I am not a medical professional giving advice.
I am a man who went through something dark and came out the other side
And I believe that story is worth telling.
If my truth encourages even one person to hold on one more day — to choose life over darkness — to cry out to God
when they have nothing left — then every word on this platform is worth it.
This is not my pulpit. This is my testimony.
Come as you are. Stay as long as you need. Take what helps you and leave the rest.
You are welcome here.
